Historian Mamdani feminist anthropologist Inhorn and social anthropologist Kurt voice support for the Peace and Democratic Society Process

Ugandan historian Mahmood Mamdani, American feminist anthropologist Marcia C. Inhorn, and Mehmet Mashuq Kurt have sent messages of support for the Peace and Democratic Society Process.

In his message, Mamdani stated:

"A peaceful and democratic solution to the Kurdish question will be a major gain for the Kurdish and Turkish peoples. From this point of view, Kurdish leader Öcalan's rejection of armed struggle and his advocacy of democratic negotiation is an opportunity for the region. Peace in Turkey will be a regional and global gain. I fully support your struggle for peace and democracy."

Meanwhile, Inhorn and Kurt said the following in their common message:

"We express our solidarity with the Kurdish people and with the ongoing peace process in Turkey, hoping it becomes a genuine step toward justice and equality. This process must ensure the constitutional recognition of Kurdish rights, equal participation, and an end to the long-standing discrimination and criminalization of their struggle for peace and democracy. We firmly hope that the legal reforms required by the process are implemented without delay and that all barriers preventing Kurds from fully participating in democratic politics are removed. A peace rooted in recognition of Kurdish rights will strengthen social harmony and expand democratic life for all communities in Turkey. Such a just and inclusive peace would be not only a transformative moment for Kurds but also a regional and global gain."
