Professor Victor Wallis solidarity message

Professor Victor Wallis, one of the pioneers of ecological socialism, has sent a message of support regarding Mr. Öcalan’s Call for Peace and Democratic Society.

The message reads as follows:

"I support Abdullah Öcalan’s call and the evolving peace process in Turkey. The Kurdish question remains the greatest obstacle to Turkey’s democratization.

This issue not only harms those directly affected, but also has far-reaching negative consequences for society as a whole. A democratic and peaceful resolution of the Kurdish question would bring tangible benefits to everyone living in Turkey.

Moreover, Abdullah Öcalan’s vision of a democratic and peaceful socialism — which calls for “ecologizing” our thoughts and way of life — offers a source of inspiration for anti-capitalist movements around the world.

I extend my solidarity and greetings to all those who are committed to the struggle for peace and a democratic society."

Victor Wallis is a professor in the Liberal Arts and Sciences Department at Berklee College of Music. He is best known for his book Red-Green Revolution, which seeks to establish both a theoretical and practical synthesis between ecology and socialism. From 1997 to 2017, Wallis served as the editor-in-chief of the journal Socialism and Democracy.
